Chantier Davie
sIGNS FIRST CONTRACT TO LAUNCH NSS ICEBREAKER PROGRAM

This is the first contract awarded to Davie Shipyards under the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) partnership with Canada. The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Public Services and Procurement made the announcement today.

Led by Me Charles-Francis Roy and Me Marc-André Gravel, our team worked intensively in close collaboration with Chantier Davie's team to complete the negotiations involving the Canadian authorities, with a view to finalizing this NSS launch contract for the Lévis-based company. Since 2019, the GBV team has been intricately involved in every facet of Chantier Davie's engagement in the NSS, culminating in the finalization of this contract.

Chantier Davie was selected in 2023 to be part of the NSS.  In addition to the design and construction of the six program icebreakers, its contribution to the Canadian government's needs under the Strategy will include the design and construction of a polar icebreaker for the Coast Guard and ferries for Transport Canada.
